The pros and cons of high-end furniture finishes
Surface finish is one of the main factors affecting the lifespan and price of furniture. There are four main types of furniture finishes:
1. Decorative paper: This is a very inexpensive paper applied directly to the surface of the furniture. It is not scratch-resistant or moisture-resistant, and costs around 10 yuan per square meter.

2. Melamine finish: This is a coating applied directly to the surface of the board during the production process. It is more scratch-resistant than veneer paper and costs around 10 yuan per square meter.

3. Paint finish: This finish is created through multiple coats of paint and sanding. It costs 10 times more than veneer paper.

4. Veneer finish: This is made by thinly sliced solid wood and applied to the surface of the furniture, giving it the feel and feel of real wood. The finish is then painted, and the price is over 10 times that of pure varnish.

5. Gold and silver foil finish: Gold and silver foil is applied to the surface of the furniture. Gold and silver foil is a forged orange finish made from pure gold and silver. The surface looks very luxurious, exquisite, and three-dimensional. One gram of gold can be made into approximately 0.5 square meters of pure gold foil, with a thickness of 0.12 microns. The standard gold foil size is 9.33 x 9.33 cm.
Silver foil products are made from pure silver with a silver content of 99.9%. Measuring 14 x 14 cm, they are paper-like sheets hammered from natural silver. A small sheet costs around 1.0 yuan, making it quite expensive!
Tip: Gold foil is thin gold flakes, while silver foil is thin silver flakes, typically imported from Europe and Taiwan.

6. Variations in Painting Processes
Paint finishes vary greatly, and can be categorized as standard paint, piano paint, semi-open paint, and fully open paint.
Standard paint: Sanded approximately three times. High-end piano paint creates a radiant finish, like the surface of a piano, and is wear- and scratch-resistant.

Semi-open paint: Paint applied to solid wood or veneer to highlight the wood grain.

Open paint: Applying only clear varnish or traditional lacquer to the furniture surface creates a clear wood grain and is very environmentally friendly!
