The clients of this project, a gardening enthusiast who is an avid art collector, found their dream home on a gently sloping plot of land that is lined with ancient oak trees and eventually wraps around a rocky shoreline. The couple turned to Richard Beard Architecture to design a sculptural residence that would embrace the natural surroundings while also accommodating their extraordinary art collection.

Richard Beard collaborated on this project with interior designer Jean Larette, who designed a modulated backyard that uses earthy materials that harmonize with the exterior’s palette, a neutral color scheme and greenery inspired by the home’s verdant landscape. Her clever use of textures and a mix of old and new furnishings complement the clean-lined modern architecture with an organic feel.
